Gill Hoffs

Story.BookGill Hoff’s work has won several competitions and is included in nine anthologies, most recently an anthology raising funds for children’s charities in the USA and UK the-lost-children.blogspot.com, several magazines, and is also available in numerous places online.  She has been a member of the Wire Writers group since early this year.

Gill has also written two full length novels, a supernatural thriller set in a children’s home, and a crime thriller set in Warrington – the first in a series, as well as a whole lot of short stories and poems besides (over fifty publications so far).  The crime thriller, In her skin was recommended for shortlisting for the 2011 Virginia Prize.

Currently researching a non-fiction book about daring rescues in Scottish waters, she’d love to hear your (true) tales.  Find her on facebook, visit her website gillhoffs.wordpress.com or email her at: scottishredridinghood@hotmail.com.  Gill is now writing a darkly unique adventure novel, too, and enjoying wandering along Ayrshire beaches in the name of research.

When she isn’t writing, Gill helps at her son’s nursery in Warrington and performs at various spoken word events, including this year’s Edinburgh Festival.  She gained a degree in psychology from the University of Glasgow, and goes home with her scientist husband and four year old son as often as possible to play on the Scottish coast and see family.  Gill once found plastic explosives on Dunure beach and tried to make candles with it, thinking it was wax.  She is extremely grateful that a soldier had stopped in for tea!
